2. Planting method for soil and water conservation

Growing plants across the slope with the varions mulch (suitable for the area) as the following method :
2.1 Planting bushes with leguminous crops for soil maintenance Plant bushes with leguminous crops such as horse tamarind mixed with Mahae bean in the ratio of 1: 1. Plant it in a row and the row space is 50 cm. Plant it as conservation strip across the slope. The strip space is 8-10 m.
2.2 Planting grasses strip Planting grasses strip across the slope and the strip space is 8-10 m. Select various grasses like Ruzi, Zettaria, Napia, Barhere and Ginny and plant it as a strip with 1 m. width. For vetiver grass, plant it in one row and the plant space is 5-10 cm.
2.3 Planting mixed crops Empty area between conservation strips is used for Planting farm crops, vegetables, flowers and trees according to the area types. Plant mixed crops such as planting farm crops or vegetables before planting leguminous crops (peanut, blackbean, mung bean, Jackbean) for rotation. Its purpose is to reclaim soil for sustainable landuse.

For other management for soil and water conservation, there should be soil preparation and growing plants in the rows according to the slope area. Apply crop residue as the mulch and soil amendmends. Planting with less soil preparation will decrease soil erosion and it is an effective way for landuse.

Soil management and chemical fertilizer application for various plants

Type
Soil management
1. Upland rice - Apply chemical fertilizer (16-20-0) 25 kg./rai before planting and add it again 6 weeks after planting
2. Corn - Apply chemical fertilizer (16-20-0) 25 kg./rai before planting and add fertilizer (21-0-0) 25 kg./rai after the second time of killing weeds.
3.Redbean - Add chemical fertilizer (16-20-0) 25 kg./rai by scattering it beside the row and incorporate it.
4. Wheat - Add chemical fertilizer (16-20-0) 25 kg./rai before planting
5. Barley - Add chemical fertilizer (15-15-15) 20 kg./rai before planting and after planting 4 weeks, add Uria (46-0-0) 10 kg./rai
6. Trees - Prepare the hole with its width, length and depth 50-100 cm. Mix soil surface with half of kerosine can of compost or animal manure and chemical fertilizer (15-15-15) 200 g./hole. Add the mixed soil at the bottom hole before planting. Cover the plants with crops residue to retain moisture.
7. Perennials - When the plant age is 2,4 months, add fertilizer (8-14-3) 130 g./plant. At the plant age of 6 months, add fertilizer 200 g./plant. For Para-rubber, add fertilizer 400 g./plant when its age is 23, 29, 35, 41 months. Add apply fertilizer (13-9-4) 530 g./plant when its age is 47, 53, 59, 65 months.
8. Vegetables - Add fertilizer (15-15-15) 40 kg./rai by dividing it to add 2 times. For cabbage, add the first 7 days after transplanting and add the second part 20-25 days after the first time. For cauliflower, genus Terminalia and turnips, scatter the fertilizer beside the rows and incorporate the soil.
