ABSTRACT

Analysis of information and database system of waste management from agriculture and agro-industry in Thailand was carried out both agricultural and agro-industrial areas in several provinces of each region during 1996 - 1998, at Organic Mater and Waste Products Subdivision, Soil and Water Conservation Division. This research showed that the total agricultural wastes were 34.43 million tons/year and amount of rice straw was 25.45 million tons/year more than any other agricultural waste and widely distributed in the north eastern part, others were corn residue, soybean residue which widely distributed in the north part, sorghum residue, mung bean residue and groundnut residue respectively. For quantity of agro-industrial wastes total 23.89 million tons/year, bagasse was the most residue which amount to 13.53 million tons/year and widely spreaded in central and eastern part, the next respective rank was cassava residue, rice husk, sawdust and corn cob. Moreover, manure production of domestic livestock and poultry namely cow manure, carabao manure, pig manure, chicken and duck manure was about 24.22 million tons/year.
To study some chemical properties of agricultural waste showed that rice straw contains 0.51% N, 0.14% P2O5 and 1.55% K2O, C/N ratio was about 99 which moderately decomposted. The nutrient content of corn, sorghum and legume residue was more than rice straw and had C/N ratio between 54.42-22.45 which easily decomposted. For agro-industrial waste found that bagasse, sawdust and coir dust had no difference of macronutrient content average 0.32% N, 0.09% P2O5 and 0.46% K2O and got the high C/N ratio between 140.00-209.64 which were difficult to decomposition. However, cassava residue and pineapple residue had the high macronutrient but low C/N ratio. The analytical data of animal manure showed that macro and micro nutrients content of pig and poultry manure were higher than cattle manure especially nitrogen and phosphorus and C/N ratio below than 20.
All database of agricultural and agro-industrial waste wene designed into three structures of database system. Program of Dbase III+ were used to analyze and arrange of database system that is types and quantity of waste materials in each province which contained 64 fields and 1406 letters per record, some chemical properties data of several waste residues consisted of 17 fields and 194 letters per record, management and restriction in agricultural utilization contained 12 fields and 466 letters per record. These database were managed in providing the menu for data searching conveniently.
