ABSTRACT

Sesbania rostrata shows high potential as a promising green manure crop for infertile rainfed lowland rice soil. It can substitute or be used with N-fertilizer. Nutrients will be released to the subsequent rice crop after incorporation. These research results were confirmed by the studies conducted in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia as Satellite sites of the subnetwork. This project has been supported by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) ans Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) aimed at exchanging research results. The experimental was carried out in1992-1993. Use of S. rostrata as green manure crop and compared to other local legumes with nutrients management studies are the common treatments for satellite sites.
