README FOR MORE CD INFORMATION: ********************************************************* 18th World Congress of Soil Science July 9-15, 2006 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA http://www.18wcss.org Soil Science Society of America http://www.soils.org/ ********************************************************* Please Note: The following README.TXT file contains valuable information about this product, including information to help optimize your use of it. We suggest that you read through this document, especially if you are having problems with installation or running the application. ******************************************************** Running the CD ******************************************************** This CD is set to automatically open when the disc is inserted into your CD or DVD drive. If your computer is not set to autorun or you do not have permissions to autorun, you may begin accessing the files by opening START.htm in the root of your CD drive. ******************************************************** About this CD's Search function ******************************************************** Help for using Search is included on the Search page. Since the search on this CD uses Java applets, you will need a Java Virtual Machine (VM) for your browser. A Java VM provides a standard runtime environment to run Java programs safely. Most computers already have Java, but if you are unable to use the Search, then you will need to download and install a Java VM. Please see the Help file for more information. ******************************************************** System Requirements ******************************************************** You will need to have a browser that runs Java, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3 or later, or Netscape Navigator version 3 or later, or Safari on a Macintosh. For some common browsers such as Internet Explorer, installation of the Java Virtual Machine (VM) is optional. If not installed, then an attempt to run the search may prompt the installation of Java. See HELP.htm in the CD's root for information on installing Java VM. We do not recommend running this CD application with less than the minimum requirements. The program may operate, but with significantly reduced performance. Of the mainstream browsers, Microsoft Internet Explorer is generally better because it allows the best word highlighting with navigation arrows. However the local active content restrictions of Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) will require most users to switch off a security setting to use this search. Please see the special instructions for Windows XP Service Pack 2 users, that includes how to tell if you are using Service Pack 2. Go to JAVA/Windows/XPSP2.htm on your CD. In some browsers, a pop up window appears briefly to highlight the search words with navigation arrows. If you have a pop-up blocker you may need to change your settings to allow pop-ups in order to use the search. ******************************************************** © Copyright 2006, ASA-CSSA-SSSA.
